The New MMCA Drug and Alcohol Policy

On January 1, 2006 a new Pipe Trades Alcohol and Drug Policy and Program began. The Policy and Program covers employees of the St. Paul Pipefitter No. 455, St. Paul Plumbers Local No. 34 and Mankato areas, Minneapolis Plumbers Local No. 15, and Minneapolis Pipefitters Local No. 539 and the St. Cloud areas, and Rochester Local 6 area.

 

Plumbers - both locals' program and policy include four types of testing: pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post incident, and work opportunity mandated testing (required by owners, general contractors, site specific jobs, or government agencies).

Pipefitters - both locals' program and policy include three types of testing: reasonable suspicion, post-incident, and work opportunity mandated testing (required by owners, general contractors, site specific jobs, or government agencies). Pre-employment testing is not included in the Pipefitters program.

 

The Procedural Manual for the program was developed and is administered by Total Employee Assistance Management (TEAM). The Policy/Procedural Manual and collection sites can be located by following the link at the bottom of this page.

 

Employee Assistance Program Available For All Mechanical Contractors' Office Employees and Dependants

Effective February 1, 2006, MMCA has signed an agreement with TEAM to furnish employee assistance for all non-bargaining unites employees and dependants of mechanical contractors. The services of TEAM are confidential and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. See the enclosed brochure.

 

Organizing Fund Increase

As agreed to in collective bargaining, there will be an increased contribution of 5¢ per hour on behalf of all bargaining unite employees to the Minnesota Pipe Trades Association. This increase is above the Industrial Relations Council settlement effective May 1, 2006 and covers employees who are members of the Minneapolis Plumbers No. 15, St. Paul Plumbers No. 34, Duluth Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 11, St. Paul Pipefitters No. 455, and Minneapolis Pipefitters No. 539. This includes the St. Cloud area but at present not the Mankato area.
