Air Conditioning Contractors Association of the Twin Cities became the National Environmental Systems Contractors Association of the Twin Cities.

November

The St. Paul Association of Plumbing, Heating and Mechanical Contractors became a member of the Regional Congress of Construction Employers (RCCE).

"JAC Rules on Grooming: It was suggested that the management members of the two JAC's bring the committees together to discuss the current problem of personal grooming."

1971

February

The St. Paul Association of Plumbing, Heating and Mechanical Contractors, Inc. became the St. Paul Piping Industry Association. The bylaws were amended to allow membership by master refrigeration installers.

1972

February

The St. Paul Association of Plumbing, Heating and Mechanical Contractors, Inc. became the St. Paul Piping Industry Association. The bylaws were amended to allow membership by master refrigeration installers.

November

"The possibility of merger by the St. Paul Piping Industry Association, Mechanical Contractors Association of Minneapolis and Minneapolis Area Plumbing Contractors Association was discussed and recommended for approval by the membership."

Discussion was held concerning journeymen furnishing their own tools "up to a 14" wrench." (Mechanical Contractors Association of Minneapolis minutes)

St. Paul Piping Industry Association Board of Directors met with the Mechanical Contractors Association of Minneapolis Board of Directors to discuss merging the two associations.B

"NESCA seems inclined to disband and join our Association if the fitters sign the Maintenance Agreement and there is a merged Twin City group to join."

1974

October

The Association resolved to merge with the St. Paul Piping Industry Association. (Mechanical Contractors Association of Minneapolis minutes)

November

Board of Directors meeting resolved issues that resulted from the merger -- bank accounts, dues from various city, state and national associations, and staff consolidation.

1975

June

Moved, seconded and carried that affiliation of the National Environmental Systems Contractors Association (NESCA) is acceptable and the NESCA members be accepted as members of TCPIA.

November

Reciprocity of Licenses between Minneapolis and St. Paul: Moved, seconded and carried to direct staff to attempt to obtain reciprocal licenses in--Gas Fitter, Oil Burner, Refrigeration, Steamfitting, Plumbing.

1976

St. Paul Pipefitters went on strike.

October

Discussions continued on the reciprocal licenses between Minneapolis and St. Paul.

December

TCPIA began administering Minnesota Chapter # 16 of the National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau (NCPWB).

1977

June

Association began inquiries into Minnegasco's activities in service and installation.

1978

April

Association members spoke at the Public Service Commission hearing on Minnegasco's request for a rate increase. It was the Association's contention that Minnegasco was subsidizing their service operation with higher gas rates.

1979

September

A survey of Board members found that the top three priorities of the Association should be: labor negotiations; reciprocity of licenses between Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the suburbs; and labor relations.
